There are several chicken-related listservs (mailing lists). Below are names, discriptions and the way to subscribe.
1. BIRD_FARM is a group devoted to subscribers who love chickens, farm-life, and such. They are a very friendly group of people who like to talk about chickens and a lot of other stuff.
They rarely keep on the subject of chickens, but you can learn a lot from these people. This is Karen's favorite group.
To sign up to BIRD_FARM send an email to BIRD_FARM-request@eskimo.com
with SUBSCRIBE [your email address] as the subject.
2. DOM_BIRD is for people who are very serious about chickens. They don't like to go off-topic, but have a special CHAT option, if you do have something off-topic to say. Lots of knowledgeable people here, too.
To sign up to DOM_BIRD send an email to LISTSERV@PLEARN.EDU.PL with
SUBSCRIBE DOM_BIRD in the body of the email.
3. USDA-POULTRY The objectives of this list are to provide access to subscribers to USDA policy information, contact information for USDA material, grants, and similar information. It will also provide an organized forum for exchange of information between subscribers, etc. The scope will be limited to USDA-related material----other poultry related material should be posted to the existing PLTRYNWS or ANIMAL SCIENCE listservers/mail groups. The intended audience is anyone interested in subscribing, but the list is intended primarily for the use of state specialists and interested industry members.
4. 4H-POULTRY The objective of this mailing group is to provide an organized forum for exchange of information, debate, requests for assistance, etc., for subscribers. The scope is limited to 4-H or other youth related discussions. The intended audience is primarily state and county personnel at the land-grant universities and volunteers in 4-H. However, industry personnel and hobbyists are welcome to participate. Allan Smith, USDA/CSREES/F4HN (4-H) will be the co-owner of this mail group, and the 4H-Rabbit mail group.
